Contains a memoir of Hawkins's military experiences. He describes his ship, U.S.S. Enterprise, and presentsa chronology of his service and battles. He was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked by the Japanese, and he discusses the support he received from his family. He describes the fighting at Peleliu. The photographs show Hawkins with fellow veterans at later reunions.
