Contains the following type of material: photographs. Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). General description of the collection: The William S. Lawton photograph collection consists of two photo scrapbooks. The circa 1944 album is of activities at the Seacoast Branch of the Artillery School, Fort Winfield Scott, California. It shows classrooms, technical equipment, and mine planter ships. The other album contains photos of Lieutenant General William S. Lawton's visit to the Infantry Center and School, Fort Benning, Georgia (21-23 August 1958). This album shows a series of photos taken for a VIP visit of the headquarters (HQ) area of the post. At that time, General Lawton was the Comptroller, U.S. Army.
