Increase Allen Lapham (1811-1875), scientist and scholar of Milwaukee, Wis., was a keen observer and prolific recorder of geographical, topographical, botanical, climactic, and other physical aspects of the state of Wisconsin. He served as President of the State Historical Society and State Geologist and was influential in urging the establishment of a weather bureau in 1869.
