Contains board minutes, financial reports and accounting records, librarians' correspondence and memoranda, bibliographic records, scrapbooks, and memorabilia. Also contains the correspondence and other papers of the founder, John Crerar (1827-1889), and the personal and professional papers of the four Crerar librarians, Clement Walker Andrews (1858-1930), Jens Christian Bay (1871-1962), Herman Henry Henkle (1908-1987), and William Stone Budington (1919- ). Includes material relating to the Lincoln sculpture by Augustus St. Gaudens, the founding of the Library, the physical housing of the collection, including the relocation to the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1962, accessions records, fund raising, membership campaigns, interlibrary loan cooperation, equipment and supplies, cataloging statistics, fee-based research service, exhibits, and bibliographic publications.
