Records include a copy of the proposed BFM constitution which ultimately was enacted and known as the "Rules and Regulations." Also included are copies for every regular meeting of the BFM, including its first one. There are copies of minutes from several special BFM meetings and executive committee meetings. Subject matter of correspondence primarily includes missionary personnel and financial matters. The bulk of the correspondence relates to mission work in Japan. Other records include brief articles about the history of UELC mission efforts and booklets highlighting the mission fields of the UELC. Minutes include some Japan Mission Committee meetings, but mostly United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA) Board of Foreign Missions (BFM) meetings (see also ULCA 19) where Japan mission work, in which the UELC was in partnership with the ULCA, was discussed. This material includes minutes as well as agenda and exhibits provided prior to meetings. Correspondence is to the UELC BFM and the UELC Japan Mission Committee. Subject matter contained of this correspondence includes budgeting matters, missionary personnel and financial matters, inquiries from those interested in becoming missionaries, and inquiries from congregations interested in sponsoring missionaries.
