Custis directs Anderson in the management of his property, including shipping corn to Madeira in return for "Madeira wine of the best quality"; running a distillery; improving property at Smith Island and other directions for its overseer Mr. Costin including "discretionary power to turn off such of the Islanders as may be detrimental to the property," getting rid of the hogs running wild, advertising a fishery for two barrells of Salmon Trouts as rent, providing for distressed seamen who may be wrecked on the island, and bringing any one to justice who destroys his property.
