Browne discusses sending some sketches regarding Italy for possible publication as an advertisement for "Yusuf" and his forthcoming book on Italy. He is sending copies of the book to Washington publications. He also mentions the "Republic's" attack on his California appointment and a possible diplomatic appointment by Pierce.
