Negative taken for June 14, 1961, Arkansas Gazette article "Traces of Old Galloway College Still Found at Harding," B1:2. A block of marble with the inscription "Galloway Female College - 1899" is embedded in a stone tower on the campus of Harding College. It is a reminder of the all-female college that once stood on the location of Harding College in Searcy, White County, Arkansas. The grounds and buildings of Galloway Female College was purchased by Harding College in 1934. The marker reads, Galloway Female College 1899. W.C. Ratcliff Pres., L.E. Moore Secty. Building committee John T. Hicks chairman, J.C. Harder, J.M. Jelks, T.B. Paschall, C.W. Yarnell."
