The logbook of the schooner Hopewell details a shipping voyage from Ipswich, Mass. (June 1770) to the West Indies (Dec. 1770), including stops in Port Royal, Jamaica, Martinique, and Saint Eustatius, Netherlands Antilles. The shipmaster was James Stanford; the logbook keeper was Francis Boardman. The logbook includes details of shipboard occupations.
