The records of the Office of the Associate Dean and Director of the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service contain reports, correspondence, programs, publications, speeches, minutes, financial information, and committees relating to agricultural research and experiment stations. Also included are materials on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Fiftieth Anniversary of the research stations, the Tennessee Valley Authority, agricultural products, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, individual college departments and their role in experiment station research, and the National Pickle Packers Association. Records include a letter book of the director. Materials range in date from 1878 to 2002.

Hugh Williams Primrose was one of six sons born to William Stuart Primrose and Ella Williams Primrose. He was born January 21, 1878 and died January 27, 1904.
