General description of the collection: The Kenyon A. Joyce collection consists of six albums containing numerous photos dealing with the 1st Cavalry Division maneuvers in Texas in 1938. Photos depict a long road march of the 1st U.S. Cavalry Division comprising the 1st Cavalry Brigade, 5th and 12th U.S. Cavalry Regiments, and the 17th U.S. Quartermaster Squadron. There are many mounted scenes, camp scenes along the way, and even sports events like equitation, boxing, and rodeo. Kenyon A. Joyce was a brigadier general during this period. Some photos include his career as major general commanding the 9th Service Command and as a member of the Allied Control Commission in Italy in 1943.
