George Leonard diaries, 1821-1881.

Diaries of Congregational clergyman George Leonard, kept from 26 May 1821 - 26 May 1881, with scattered entries after 1830. Leonard describes his studies at Harvard University (Class of 1823) and Harvard Divinity School (Class of 1826), keeping school and preaching in various communities following graduation, and his eventual ordination as pastor of the Second Congregational Church in Marshfield, Mass. (1836-1861). Later entries are mainly reminiscences of his family and his early life and career.
