Amherst College Women was founded in 1906 as the "Ladies of Amherst College." It was an auxiliary service and social organization for wives and daughters of Amherst College faculty members. In 1972 it changed its name to "Amherst College Women" and reached out more broadly to invite all women connected to the College to become members.
