Richard Armour collection, 1935-1989.

The collection, part of Scripps College Archives, includes manuscripts, typescripts, galley proofs and drawings of original and revised versions of Richard Armour's works; articles by him, newspaper clippings about him, business and personal correspondence, material relating to his commercial art ventures, material relating to his responsibilities at Scripps College, audiotapes and 16 mm. films of interviews with the author, and a bronze bust of the author. Also included is a collection of his published works.

Richard Armour, 1906-1989, was an American poet, humorist and author. He was also professor of English at Scripps College (Claremont, Calif.) from 1945 to 1963, dean of faculty at Scripps College, and member of the Board of Trustees at Claremont McKenna College.
