The collection contains the manuscripts of "Fodder and Fondue in Fiction"; and "Recollections of a Visitor on Earth," together with a program for the Ferdinand Phinizy Lectures, 1975. The collection also contains the screenplay of "God's Little Acre" by Philip Yordan. A letter, 1958 March 11, to Alvin G. Manuel, discusses the enclosed lyrics used with the music of Elmer Bernstein for "God's Little Acre." A letter, 1967 March 10, to Lewis Galantiere, sends copies of the same lyrics (not enclosed) for a P.E.N. auction.

Erskine Preston Caldwell was born in White Oak, Coweta County, Georgia, the son of Ira Sylvester Caldwell, a minister, and Caroline Bell, a teacher. Translator of French literature, playwright, journalist. Galantiere (1893-1977) worked for the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris from 1920 to 1927, and came to know many French writers and American expatriates.
