Founded in 1892 by Francis Atherton Bean, Sr. at New Prague, Minn. Construction on a Buffalo mill, the company's largest, began in 1926. Conpleted in 1927, it had the capacity to produce 20,000 cwt. of flour per day. The Buffalo mill also produced formula feeds for livestock and poultry. Harry A. Bullis (1890-1963) was Chairman of the Board of General Mills from 1948 to 1959. He served as Chairman of the Mutual Security Operations Team to Formosa in 1953. From 1954 to 1955, Bullis was a member of the Hoover Commission Task Force on Overseas Economic Operations, and from 1954 to 1959, he was a trustee for the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
