Contains Douglass's war diaries and memoirs. Highly detailed accounts, that discuss his naval service prior to Pearl Harbor as well as the attack on December 7, 1941. Also includes information about Douglass's work for Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr. aboard the USS Enterprise. He was involved in and discusses most naval battles in the Pacific Theater for the first 18 months of the war. These include the battles and operations of Pearl Harbor, Midway, Guadalcanal, Russell's Island, Santa Cruz, the Stewart Islands (Eastern Solomons), Marcus, Marshalls, the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo and Guam, and Wake Island. Includes a photocopied photograph of himself and the USS Enterprise.

Served in the US Naval Reserve during World War II. First assignment was aboard the USS Oklahoma, which was sunk at Pearl Harbor. He was then reassigned to the USS Enterprise. William Frederick Halsey Jr. (October 30, 1882 – August 16, 1959) was a fleet admiral in the United States Navy during World War II. He was called "Bill" by his family and friends and nicknamed "Bull" by the press. He is one of four individuals to have attained the rank of fleet admiral of the United States Navy, the others being Ernest King, William Leahy, and Chester W. Nimitz.
