Part of a group of negatives taken for January 26, 1958, Arkansas Gazette article "Old River Town to See Changes with Dam Construction," E5. In 1958, the preliminary work on a dam in Dardanelle, Yell County, Arkansas brought interest to the town. Negative series includes images of downtown (2039.1), U.S. Post Office on Front Street (2039.2, 2039.3), the oldest house in Dardanelle, built by George Kimball in 1876 (2039.6), and the First Presbyterian Church (2039.4, 2035.5).
