The items in this series comprise 82 black and white or sepia-toned photographs, and 3 folders containing contact sheets and negatives pertaining to the United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA) Board of Foreign Missions (BFM). These items are from 1911-1963 with the bulk of material from 1955-1961. The majority of items are undated and unidentified. The individual photographs are primarily portraits of men, women, and families and several photographs of scenes in Latin America. The majority of the portraits are unidentified. Those identified as either missionaries or ULCA lay persons or clergy were removed from this collection and placed in LCA 28/11/2 Missionary Personnel Photographs, 1860-1987, and LCA 6/1/1 Photographs of Clergy and Laity, LCA and Predecessor Bodies. A few photographs of persons belonging to predecessor churches of The American Lutheran Church were placed into TALC and Predecessor Church Bodies Clergy and Laity, c. 1830s-1950s. The other items in this series are several contact sheets and accompanying negatives. These are also mostly unidentified, but there are some contact sheets in folders 3 and 4 that have identifications listed according to each photo frame. Subject matter for these images include BFM meetings from 1959-1961; ULCA Convention, 1960; India Conference, 1959; Outgoing Missionary Conference, Wagner College, Staten Island, New York, 1960; and Pre-Missionary Conference, Wagner College, 1958.
