Anna Maria Porter poem and portrait, 1809, n.d.

The collection consists of a handwritten poem and a signed engraving of the author. The poem, titled Sonnet to Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe, is dated 31 Oct. 1809, Benham(?). The sonnet is a tribute to Kirkpatrick, as she calls him, invoking Goethe's poems and Prometheus in comparison. On the verso is a simple sketch, apparently of the grounds of an estate. The engraving of the author was drawn by G. Harlowe and engraved by T. Woolnoth, and signed by the author.
