Contains photographs of the following military unit: 42nd Division, American Expeditionary Forces (AEF), Office of Strategic Services (OSS) Detachment 101. General description of the collection: The William J. Donovan photograph collection consists of basically three segments of photographs. There are two folders of loose photos which include photos from the WWI and WWII periods, portraits of Colonel / General Donovan, photos of family and friends, and photos of award presentations. One large album, in an oversized box, contains approximately 300 Signal Corps photos from the AEF during WWI, which shows a wide variety of scenes and subject. None of these photos are unique. There are four albums which cover the WWII years of General Donovan's career. The most interesting album shows scenes of OSS Detachment 101 in India and Burma. However, the photos are primarily of training and supply operations. They do not show covert activities. The other albums deal with army materiel on display; a trip to Yugoslavia, about 1946; and scenes in North Africa and Romania during the war.
