Orderly book, 1759-1760.

Vellum bound account book with handwritten copy of orders kept by a soldier at Fort Cumberland in Nova Scotia. Contains several lists such as "commission officers & men belonging to Capt. Simeon Slocomb", "A list of the mens names enlisted & impressed out of Collo: Frances Brindley's regiment for his Majesties service for the year 1759", "A list of mens names that recived blakits of Captain Simon Slocomb", etc. Includes regulations concerning the disbursement of provisions, appointments and court-martials. Daily life in camp is described in orders regulating the conduct of the soldiers.

Ten companies comprised the 12th Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia: five from Boston, one from North Bridgewater, one from Abington, one from Weymouth, one from Stoughton, and one from Gloucester. After organization was completed, the regiment was ordered to Fort Warren in Boston Harbor.
