A.E. Swasey letters, 1850-1854.

Letters received by A.E. Swasey, superintendent of the New Bedford and Taunton Railroad Company, 1850-54. Includes letters from company president Joseph Grinnell regarding changes to rail service; and letters from passengers complaining about delays and remitting money owed for tickets. Also, letters requesting a special train for a procession marking the death of President Zachary Taylor, 18 Jul. 1850, a special train to take passengers from New Bedford to Providence to view the painting Pilgrims Progress, and a train to connect with steamships arriving from Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
