Hand-colored ninth-plate daguerreotype in brass frame of the New York Presbyterian minister and editor of the New York Observer, Charles Augustus Stoddard (1833-1920). The photograph was taken by Philemon Davis of Boston, Mass. in 1859. Attached to photograph is a note that reads, "Charles A. Stoddard when ordained Pastor of W.H. Church and married to Mary Prime, Nov. 16 1859."
