The collection contains records of several African-American women's organizations that were either founded in the Orangeburg, S.C., area or were actively participated in by Orangeburg area women. Organizations represented include Church Women United in Orangeburg, the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs, Inc., the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., the South Carolina Federation of Colored Women's Clubs, the South Carolina Federation of Women's and Girls' Clubs, Inc., the Southeastern Federation of Colored Women's Clubs, and the Sunlight Club. The collection also contains records related to Marion Birnie Wilkinson and the Marion Birnie Wilkinson Home for Girls. Materials include biographical information about the women involved in the organizations, historical backgrounds of the organizations, publications, minutes, programs, constitutions and by-laws, and financial reports.
