Collection consists of newspaper articles, correspondence, a scrapbook, photographs, and a diary relating to George West. Arriving in Colorado in 1859 from Massachusetts, West worked as a type setter for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, and later founded the newspaper the Golden Transcript in Golden, Colorado.
