Raymond A. Pearson was a graduate of Cornell University in dairy industry (1894), and after working in commercial dairying, returned to Cornell to establish a Department of Dairy Industry. After heading the New York Department of Agriculture, Pearson was named as President of Iowa State College (University) (1912-1926). On March 22, 1948, Iowa State College (University) sponsored a 90th anniversary celebration in honor of the founding of the college, which occurred on the same date in 1858 when the charter act establishing a state agricultural college became law.
