General description of the collection: The Ron Beifuss photograph collection is composed of copies of original photos from the service of 2nd Lieutenant Ray Hoover in the Philippines between 1899 and 1903. He was an officer in the Philippine Scouts. The photos show American officers, a Filipino soldier, villagers, village and countryside scenes, a few shipboard scenes, and a ceremony in the Philippine Islands. None of the photos are captioned, except to identify Lieutenant Hoover; but, this is an excellent collection because it deals with the life of an officer in a unique situation.
