This collection contains 796 photographs in two volumes, one disbound volume, and one box of loose photographs, encompassing the years ca. 1858-1978. Many of the photographs were taken by Eleanor Appleton Fayerweather (EAF) and pertain to her life from 1914-1978. Among the photographs are formal portraits of various members of the Fayerweather, Brown, and Hinchcliffe families; informal snapshots of EAF and her friends, social activities, and schooling, especially at Brookline High School in Brookline, Mass.; and EAF's photos of her travels to England, Nassau (Bahamas), Central Asia, Greece, Hong Kong, and Thailand, among other places, from 1965-1970. There are also a small number of photograph Christmas cards received by EAF. Family members represented include Samuel Harrison Brown, Elizabeth Anne Ladd Brown, Ellen Elizabeth Brown Fayerweather, George Thomas Fayerweather, Ethel Maud Hinchliffe Fayerweather, Frederick Arthur Hinchcliffe, and Harriet Augusta Brown Richardson, among many others. The collection includes daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, opaque glass photographs, tintypes, cartes de visite, cabinet cards, photonegatives, and other paper-based photographs, both black and white and in color. Photographers other than EAF in this collection include George M. Rice and Theodore N. Gates (both of Westboro, Mass.) and Henry J. Reed and Edwin J. Leland (both of Worcester, Mass.).
