Crombie family papers, 1809-1937.

Correspondence and other papers of the Crombie family of Boston and Roxbury, Mass., 1856-1937. Includes a letter written by Henry W. Crombie to his wife Harriet Hinds Crombie while working in Newburyport, Mass., 1856; and letters written by Henry to his mother Sarah Crombie while serving with the First Mass. Cavalry, Co. D, 1862-65, describing camp movements in Virginia, his stay in a Washington area hospital, and capture and escape from Confederate soldiers. Also includes papers of Henry's daughter, Helen Crombie, a school teacher in Roxbury, Mass., including letters written to her mother while traveling in Europe, 1894, correspondence with friends, and poetry, 1937; and miscellaneous family papers, 1809-53.
