Negative taken for February 20, 1963, Arkansas Gazette article "Track Stewards Have Final Say in All Horse Races," B1:2. T. Linus Pierce is one of three racing stewards this season at Oaklawn Jockey Club in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas. It is the responsibility of the stewards to declare as official the results of each race. To do so, they must watch each race for infractions, check with patrol judges around the track, and quickly settle any complaints made by the jockeys. The stewards approve licenses for grooms, trainers, horse owners, and jockeys, and keep tabs on persons of bad reputation, barring such individuals if necessary. Pierce lives in Hot Springs.
