Negative taken for August 26, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "Driver Training Is Community Affair," B1:2. Cy Shepherd teaches automobile education to Barbara Nelson, center, and Landra Martin, in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas. The Garland County Safety Council arranged for Shepherd and several others to take a course in automobile driver instruction at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Faulkner County, Arkansas, and then to begin teaching local teenagers. A Hot Springs car dealer, Chitwood Motor Company, provided the dual control car, and another local business provided the gasoline. This course is part of the Safety Council's long range program to make life safer on the streets and highways of Garland County.
