Umans (center) is a veterinarian who specializes in thoroughbred horses. He examines the horses before each race for any sign of injury or illness and can have them removed from the race if he deems them to be unfit. Dr. Umans is at work at Oaklawn Jockey Club in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas.
