The Congressional Papers of Dan Glickman extend from 1977 to 1995. Dan Glickman served an 18-year tenure as Congressman of the 4th Congressional District in Kansas, an eleven-county area around and including Wichita, Kansas, his hometown. Of particular interest in the collection are documents concerning agriculture, aviation, a hazardous waste site at Furley, Kansas, and the creation of the National Tallgrass Prairie Reserve in Kansas. As a member of Congress, Glickman served on the House Agriculture, Judiciary, Science and Technology, and Intelligence Committees. On the House Agriculture Committee, he served on the following sub-committees: Conservation, Credit, and Rural Development; Domestic Marketing, Consumer Relations, and Nutrition; and Wheat, Soybeans, and Feed Grains, of which he chaired from 1988 to 1993. On the Judiciary Committee, he served on the sub-committee on crime. Glickman served as Chairman of the sub-committee on Transportation, Aviation and Materials, from 1983 to 1987. He also served as Chair of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in 1993-1994 (103rd Congress).
