Scholar and author Joseph E. Walker was born on July 14, 1911 in Fannettsburg, Pa., but, later in his childhood, moved to Sterling, Colo. He attended local public schools and graduated from Sterling High School in 1928. He was accepted at Park College in Parkville, Mo., the following year and graduated from there in 1932 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
