Gerhard Jung letters to Carlton Kendall, 1948-1958.

The collection includes thirty items, mainly typed or hand-written letters from Gerhard Jung of Bremen, Germany, to Carlton Kendall of Oakland, California, between 1948 and 1958, thanking him for his generous packages of food and clothing sent during the post-World War II Allied Occupation of Germany. Some letters are from other members of the Jung family, or from his sister-in-law Hildegard Binder, who lived in Lübeck and would often forward the letters to California. Most letters contain detailed news of what life was like in Germany after the war. Also includes tracings of the Jung family feet, to help size shoes, and a notice of Dr. Jung's death, 3 May 1958. Some letters include stamped envelopes.
