Includes letters from Massachusetts town clerks, historical societies and churches written in responses to Nichols' inquiries about town bells; letters from bell foundries such as Meneely and Co. of West Troy, New York, Mears and Stainbank of London, and others regarding the manufacture of bells; letters from friends and fellow campanologists; and letters from Norman Wakefield and other administrators at the University of Chicago regarding the installation of English tower bells on campus under the urging of Nichols.
