Joseph May annotated almanacs, 1790-1839.

Annotated almanacs of Joseph May, secretary of the Boston Marine Insurance Company, kept from 1790, 1792-1795, and 1798-1839. Brief, scattered entries note the movement of vessels and cargoes insured by the company; company news, such as the election of officers and the sale of stock; and the events of the War of 1812 and their effect on the company's shipping interests. May also comments on current events, including local politics and elections, foreign affairs, and deaths in the community, particularly notable individuals and politicians.
