A. Gertrude Anthony papers, 1906-1968.

Consists of correspondence of Gertrude Anthony pertaining to her time as a teacher for the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief (Near East Relief) in Armenia and Turkey following World War I. Correspondence from 1919 to 1922 is from Anthony and her sister, Amy A. Burt, to family and friends back home in Calif. discussing life in Armenia and Turkey including the Armenian massacres. Correspondence from 1960 to 1965 is to Anthony from the students she taught while in Turkey. Also includes reports on Constantinople, the American Near East Relief and Anatolia College, Salonica, and Anthony's diplomas and passport. Also present is a scrapbook of news clippings and newsletters pertaining to Armenian relief and individuals from Berkeley, Calif. who went to Armenia, Greece, or Turkey. Scrapbook also includes 1 photograph, souvenir currency, and several pieces of correspondence.

A. Gertrude Anthony was a native of Berkeley, Calif. who taught science at the Berkeley High School. From 1919 to 1922 she went to Armenia and Turkey to help teach Armenian children.
