Thomas Stephens, Evans Port near Richmond, Virginia, writes his brother and sister in 1861 regarding life in active duty. W.L. Jones, Petersburg, Virginia, writes in 1862 his brother, describing a battle near Richmond. Also, in 1864, an unnamed soldier writes from Camp Gordon near Lawrenceville Ford, Virginia, to an editor, asking to print a message of thanks in his paper to Maggie S. and Francis M. Forbes of McIntosh County, Georgia, for the clothing and related materials sent to him. Overall, this collection could be very meaningful for students and authors having time to devote to thoughtful study of the papers.
