Contains information pertaining to the following wars: Korean War, Cold War, World War I (WWI), World War II (WWII). Contains information pertaining to the following military units and organizations: Pennsylvania National Guard; Delaware National Guard; 261st U.S. Army Strategic Communications Command; Armed Forces Reserve Policy Board; USMA West Point Admissions Representative. General description of the collection: The William H. Duncan collection documents his 35 year Army career. The collection contains correspondence, event presentation material, Command and General Staff College (CGSC) course material, bound volumes, Department of Defense (DOD) publications, anti-communist pamphlets, Delaware National Guard recruiting material, journals, reports, hospital standing operating procedures (SOPs), and WWI era postcards collected by Duncan. The materials cover the period 1916-1997; the bulk of the papers represent Duncan's work as a delegate to the Secretary of the Army's Armed Forces Reserve Policy Board, 1979-1985. The collection is arranged in 2 series. Series I: Papers, 1945-1990s, is arranged by subject (chronologically within subject) and contains personal as well as professional correspondence, military orders, conference and event programs, and school materials; a hospital ledger from 30th Field Hospital, Veckering, France, dated January-August 1945 that records the name, unit, diagnosis, and treatment of American soldiers and German POWs; and several hospital SOPs from the 1950s and 1960s. Series II: Postcards, consists of more than one hundred postcards of France, Germany, and the Mexican Border Campaign from the first decade of the 20th century.
