Articles, interviews, biographical sketches, press releases, photographs, videorecordings, correspondence and related materials. Photographs, some from the 1960s, marking special occasions in Dr. Bettmann's career as well as day-to-day depictions of Dr. Bettmann at work have been preserved. Promotional videorecordings for two of Dr. Bettmann's publications and The Bettmann Archive are included. Correspondence consists primarily of hand-written and typed letters between Dr. Bettmann and various publishers, dating 1978-1998. Written tributes to Dr. Bettmann presented at a celebration of his life on June 4, 1998 at Florida Atlantic University are also included. Other subjects and persons significant to the collection include: Adelaide Snyder, William Miller, Lynn Klein Laurenti, Bill Gates, Miami Beach concerts, Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic University, oral and visual history classes, pictoral history, and photographs of life in America, American sports, American writers and physicians.

Rare books librarian, historian, teacher. Otto Ludwig Bettman was born in 1903 in Leipzig, Germany. In 1918 he became a master piano student of Fraulein Schutze, excelling in Bach. In 1923, he received his Ph. D. from the University of Leipzig and began working for the music publishing house, C.F. Peters, in Leipzig. In 1932 he received a diploma in library science from the University of Leipzig, and became a rare books curator at the State Art Library in Berlin. ...
