Richard Beattie Davis music collection, 1790-1920.

Musical scores, slides, programs, books. There is an unusual collection of over three hundred cadenzas to the piano concertos of Mozart and Beethoven. There are over 40 chamber works available for use. These are complete with parts and by a variety of composers. Additionally, various works of the English composer, artist and designer, Thomas B. Pitfield, are contained within the collection. The color slides in the collection are of title pages of the Belaieff miniature scores. There are programs in the collection as well, such as one for the performance of Bessel's work for "Tsar Saltan" in Paris, 1929, featuring an illustration of Russian costume by Russian artist, Bilibin. There are also books in the collection, mostly in Russian, on related subjects, including the Russian poet, Fet. There are also music catalogs, and English music journals from 1940 to the present that list many of Europe's best known antiquarian dealers.
