Architectural drawings for projects - located primarily in New York City--designed or altered by Kahn and Jacobs and its predecessor firms including Buchman and Deisler, circa 1893-1900; Buchman and Fox, circa 1900-1919; Buchman and Kahn, circa 1920-1929; Kahn and Morgan, 1930; Kahn and (Eliel) Saarinen, 1930; Ely Jacques Kahn, Architects, 1930-1940; and Kahn and Jacobs, formed 1941. Major projects include Bloomingdale's Department Store, 1903-1917 (including 1929-1930 drawings for Bloomingdale's by Starrett and Van Vleck); the Squibb Building, 1929-1951; Bergdorf Goodman department store, 1927; Oppenheimer-Collins Company buildings in New York, 1906-1930, Philadelphia, 1923, Pittsburgh, 1919-1928, and Brooklyn, New York, 1915-1928; Bonwit Teller department store at Fifth Ave. and 38th Street; the Film Center building; and the original New York Times Building at 42nd Street and Broadway. Also, a list of jobs, 1945-1959; account books, 1928-1941; and a plan book containing a listing of drawings, 1929-1945. Also included are drawings done by Ely Jacques Kahn while a student at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris, 1907-1908, autographs from fellow students, and a typescript of Kahn's autobiography.

Bergdorf Goodman began as a custom tailoring shop, known for its fine workmanship. A ready-to-wear department was added in 1923, but Bergdorf's continued to offer custom clothing and milinnery well into the 1960's.
