Autograph letter signed : London, to Arthur Moore, 1889 May 2.

Thanking Moore for a copy of his "Stolen Hand" (a short story), noting that he will give criticisms to Moore in person. Referencing the submission of their collaborative work "The Passion of Dr. Ludovicus" to the publisher Routledge, and suggesting mottoes for the work ("My life is not life," Calderon; "Woman thou has subdued me," Calderon; and "Let it be -- pass on -- / No good can come of it -- it is not well / To meet it -- it is an enchanted phantom -- / A lifeless idol," Goethe). Hoping to see Moore soon, and asking him to try to procure a copy of Johannes II from one of the "solid old bookshops ... à la Quaritch."
