Joseph Wright Chamberlain (1809-1867) traveled the Middle West in the 1830s and settled in Leesburg, Koskiusko County, Ind. in 1840. He was postmaster and physician until 1851 when he moved to Elkhart, Ind. Chamberlain's son Orville Tryon Chamberlain (1841-1929) served in the 74th Indiana Infantry Regiment.
