Oral history interview with Joshua H. Gortler, Oct. 9, 1985.

Gortler describes his family's experiences during World War II and their life in a German displaced persons camp. He relates their 1951 immigration to New York, where he received his education in social work. He tells of moving to Seattle to work at Kline Galland Home for the elderly and describes the programs he developed during his directorship there.
