Daniel A. Lord was born on April 23, 1888, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Loyola University in Chicago in 1909, and immediately upon graduation he entered the Society of Jesus at St. Stanislaus Seminary in Florissant, Missouri. He received a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from Saint Louis University and was ordained a priest in 1923.
