These papers concern Admiral Calvin Durgin's career from World War II until his retirement in 1951. Admiral Durgin was a noted leader in naval aviation.

Calvin Thornton Durgin was born January 7, 1893, in Palmyra, New Jersey. He served as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations from May 1949 to March 1950, and retired as a vice admiral in September 1951.
