Boston Red Sox scrapbooks : scrapbook, 1952-1953.

The two scrapbooks concentrate on the 1952 and 1953 seasons of the Boston Red Sox. Volume one concentrates on the 1952 season, begining in January and ending with the post season. Interesting points of focus are Ted Williams' reinstatement by the Marines, articles on the Braves, Boston's National League team, and the private lives of many of the players. The author runs comentary throughout the book, expressing her feelings about Williams' reinstatement. Articles of special note are a loose piece of stationary from the Hotel New Yorker with signatures on it, a flyer from the Boston Baseball Writer's dinner, AP photos of Ted Williams with Jim Thorpe, advertisements for "Report on Sports" with Curt Gowdy and Bob Delaney's radio sports show, a loose article about Ted Williams turning seventy, the program from "Ted Williams Day"--4/30/52, an article about Williams' farewell by Fenway Park's "Left Field Wall", an article about Jimmy Piersall having an emotional breakdown and a color pictorial from "Ted Williams Day". Volume two concentrates on the Boston Rex Sox 1953 season. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, newspaper photographs, as well as several articles on Ted Williams' military experience in Korea. Both volumes are comprised mostly of black and white newspaper articles and photographs from a UPI or AP source.

Ted (Theodore Samuel) Williams (August 30, 1918 – July 5, 2002) was an American professional baseball player and manager.
